JOB SUMMARY
 
The Learning and Development Consultant is responsible for the planning, creation, and facilitation of developmental programs that equip employees with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform and grow in their job.  This position will primarily focus on developmental opportunities that will drive performance, retention and growth in the organization and includes focus areas in leadership, onboarding, engagement, service and performance coaching. The Learning & Development Consultant will also support training efforts related to operational and employee policies and procedures.
 
This position will collaborate across departments to identify developmental needs within the organization and create effective solutions to fulfill those needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Identify core knowledge and skills needed for employees to perform successfully in their role
  • Partner with department subject matter experts to define standards and work instructions needed to support training
  • Design and facilitate learning opportunities to employees using a variety of means, such as instructor-led meetings and classes, group discussions, hands-on exercises, eLearning solutions, mentorship programs, and informal trainings
  • Design and create job aides, learning resources and eLearning courses which are visually engaging and appeal to different learning styles
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training through employee performance and objective records and provide reporting to Learning & Development Manager and employees’ supervisor
  • Coordinate internal and external learning opportunities for employees and maintain accurate registration records
  • Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) software by maintaining and updating the platform and content as well as fielding support requests
  • Attain a thorough understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Participate in other projects as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:        
  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a focus in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Instructional Design, Human Resources, related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of coaching or training experience
  • Knowledge of and experience using adult learning theories
  • Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Yardi or similar LMS preferred
  • 2-3 years of on site Property Management experience desired 
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and property management preffered
Skills and Abilities:
  • Fluent in English and skilled in oral and written communication
  • Second language, such as Spanish, desired but not required
  • Ability to use tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous manner when collaborating with co-workers and the public
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance as travel between sites is required
  • Ability to build authentic relationships, including maintaining trust, effectively listening, and demonstrating patience and empathy
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Written and verbal communication, including presentation and facilitation skills
  • Enthusiasm and ability to create momentum and facilitate change
